It is estimated that 1/3 of the population has at least one of the genes associated with celiac disease, but most never develop the disease, so it is very likely that you will not develop it either. However, you should still perform a blood test every 2-3 years or immediately if symptoms appear. If you also have first or second degree relatives with celiac disease, it is even more essential that you continue to be evaluated as time goes by.
